Svetoslav Nasvadi from the Ministry of Education and Science explains that the primary challenges the Ministry faced were the shortage of teachers proficient in effectively using technology in the classroom, the limited opportunities for educators to create interactive digital content, and the lack of free educational resources for children to continuously enrich their knowledge.

The need was clear: a solution that could provide equal opportunities for quality education, support the development of digital skills and empower teachers to create engaging content while allowing for a personalized approach to each student’s needs.

Enter the Digital Backpack

This is where Telelink Business Services stepped in, partnering with the Ministry of Education and Science Bulgaria to develop the Digital Backpack – a unified learning platform covering the entire K-12 journey.

The Technology Behind the Transformation

‘We started by creating a centralized electronic identity for over 1.2 million users, ensuring secure Single Sign-On access to all educational resources.‘ – Ivan explains.

The platform leverages technologies such as Azure Kubernetes Services and a microservices architecture for scalability, Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Business to Consumer for secure authentication of students, teachers, and parents, and Microsoft Teams for seamless virtual classrooms. This blend of technologies ensures that the Digital Backpack can handle the educational needs nationwide while remaining flexible and user-friendly.
